Dance Student Information

Detailed information for new and present Trend Dance students.

At Trend Dance Studio, we use age as a guideline to help determine appropriate placement of our students, however, we do not keep any students in a class that is clearly not to his or her level. Changes are made during the first few weeks of class to properly group students in the best classes to suit each child individually.

New Students

All students are welcome at Trend, please lets us know if this is your childs first dance lesson or your transferring from another studio so we can find the appropriate classes for your children.

Soft shoes are not needed for the first few lessons. Let's get your dancer started and make sure this is the right activity for them. We often start dancers in socks or bare feet. Once they are ready for shoes we have a used shoe inventory we can check to see if there is a suitable pair for sale. If not, we will provide you with information on how and where to order the right type of shoes. Please do not go out and buy shoes until you have talked to an instructor. Finding the right style and fit are very important.

A leotard is ideal but don't go and buy one just yet, a pair of good fitting shorts and a t-shirt (not baggy) will do fine for the first few lessons.

Their hair needs to be pulled up and off their neck, it is best put into a bun otherwise a ponytail or a head band if they have short hair.

For most, dancing is a whole new world. While there is a lot to learn, we take great care to provide open communication and information for all of our students. Our beginner families are well informed and guided through the first year of dance and beyond to make sure it is an enjoyable experience for both the dancer and the parents! At the end of the year you will see all the hard work that your Son/Daughter has put in, at the Trend Dance concert.

Practicing It is essential that students practice at home so that the choreography learned so far is understood and they will have a good foundation to build upon for their next class.

Lost and Found

All items left at the studio that are not claimed within two weeks will be given away. So be sure you have all of your belongings when leaving. By the same token, also be sure you haven't accidentally picked up studio items or other people's belongings. In particular, parents are urged to closely supervise their young dancers to make sure that they leave with only their own items, as dance items tend to look similar. Put your name in all clothes, shoes, bags, and costume pieces so that they can easily be returned to you if lost.
