Ballet, Pointe & Demi-Character

Basic ballet training is essential to all derivative dance styles and develops a sensitivity to poise, grace and presentation. We offer technique classes at all levels from beginning to pre-professional. Classical training begins at the age of five and requires approximately eight years of continued training to achieve this goal. Our (C.S.T.D.) syllabus has a strong classical foundation to permit the student to eventually achieve a successful performance en pointe. Pointe requires a minimum of two concurrent ballet technique classes, three classes are recommended. Also requires consultation with and evaluation by instructor before placement in Pointe.

Contemporary

Contemporary is an artistic form of expressive dance. Focusing on the abstract form of ballet. Students will benefit from learning to appreciate dance as an art form. Contemporary is used widely to depict stories through dance. Unlike classical ballet, contemporary dance often utilizes ground work and the dancers often perform in bare feet. At Trend we believe that contemporary dance has a important part to play in any dancer's learning curve. Our unique mix of energy and creativity advances the dance art form and fuels the dance world, connecting people to the exhilarating possibilities that dance offers.

Jazz Jazz Dance is done to a variety of musical styles from the latest top 40 dance music, classical, modern, cabaret etc. These jazz classes are directed toward giving each student a solid jazz foundation. The focus is on exercises that comprise a full body warm-up and teach how to work from the centre of the body. Trend Dance Studio employs a very thorough jazz system dance technique, this has a proven track record of preparing young dancers hoping to become professional dancers. A dancer properly schooled in our technique acquires a high degree of co-ordination, together with the facility for analysing movement, which is an essential skill required for making rapid adjustment to the various jazz styles encountered. Jazz has a ballet foundation. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that ballet be studied in addition to jazz to become a successful jazz dancer.

Tiny Talents is an ideal class for pre-school boys and girls to be introduce to the wonderful art of dance.

Mummy and Me 2 to 4 Years Dance Class

Why? 2 to 4 yrs in a 60 minute class geared towards introducing movement to music. The class will include gentle stretches rhythmic exercises and basic motor skills such as hopping and galloping set in a fun and supportive atmosphere. When parents are encouraged to participate alongside their children, the kids learn that fitness is fun for people of all ages. In addition to providing physical exercise, Mummy and Me classes give mothers the chance to meet other mums with kids similar in age to their own. This socialisation is often welcomed by mums, who may feel a bit isolated once they are home with their young children. It's also good for the children to meet one another - babies and young children can benefit from early socialisation, helping them to gain confidence around peers. When brought together for fun and exercise, children often lose some of the awkward shyness that they may feel in other settings. Of cause it doesn't have to be Mummy and Daughter. Dads, Sons and Grandparents are most welcome.
